The Athletic's Phil Hay has issued a promotion warning to Leeds United fans following yesterday's EFL announcement, which has drawn an interesting reaction from many fans of the Yorkshire club.

More than two months after the delay to the season, the EFL announced yesterday that if the season is curtailed it should be settled using an unweighted points-per-game system, with promotion and relegation retained, and play-offs key but not extended past four sides.

Additionally, the EFL clarified that at least 51% of clubs in a division would need to vote in favour of curtailment for the season to be ended early.

Have Leeds United done these 15 things in the last 10 years? – Yes or no? Have a go now!

The update indicates that should the Championship season be brought to an end without another game being played, Leeds would be crowned champions.

The Whites are top of the table as things stand, having moved one point ahead of West Bromwich Albion with a win against Huddersfield Town in March – the last league game they played before the delay.

However, Hay has warned Leeds fans that the Premier League's stance on relegating sides via a points-per-game system if the season cannot be concluded on the pitch could be an issue.

That has drawn an interesting reaction from Whites supporters, many of whom have taken to Twitter to voice their thoughts.
