Sheffield Wednesday will be in the market for a new centre-back this summer, after conceding 60 goals in a season that saw them finish 15th in the league table.

Jos Luhukay’s side have been linked by the Mirror with a move for West Ham United centre-back Reece Burke, who has spent the season out on loan at Bolton Wanderers.

While Phil Parkinson’s side avoided relegation to League One on the final day of the season by just two points, Burke impressed throughout his stay at the Macron Stadium.

The 21-year-old made 25 appearances for the Trotters this season and one was one of the key players in their fight to avoid relegation.

The Owls will certainly be hoping to secure the Hammer’s defender this summer, as the youngster fits the style of Luhukay’s team, especially after losing Gleen Loovens and Frederico Venancio.

As you can see above, we are looking at Reece Burke’s entire season stats, during his loan spell at Bolton Wanderers.

The young defender made a quarter of a century of appearances for Phil Parkinson’s side during the campaign, chipping in with one goal along the way.

It isn’t his goal-scoring ability that could see his move to Sheffield Wednesday however, as Burke ended the season with an average clearance rate per game of 6.6, as well as 2.7 long balls on average each match too.

While the youngster only averaged one tackle per match through this campaign, Reeve Burke would fit nicely into Jos Luhukay’s side for the start of next season.
