Nottingham Forest are closing in on a deal to sign Huddersfield Town defender Michael Hefele on a permanent deal, according to Sky Sports.

Is the commanding German player a good signing for Forest?

Jay Williams

Hefele is not the player that Nottingham Forest should be prioritising but he is a decent defender at Championship level.

What you get from the towering German is full-blooded commitment to the cause and an aerial presence at the back.

To have the option to rotate Hefele with Michael Dawson, Tobias Figueiredo, Joe Worrall and Danny Fox is surely a sign that Forest are heading in the right direction.

George Dagless

This was unexpected.

Forest perhaps need cover at centre-half, though, and Hefele seems a cheap option.

He's injury-prone, though, so they'll be hoping that he stays fit.

Gary Hutchinson

He certainly did well for Huddersfield in their promotion season, so he fits the bill as a Championship ready player with goals in him.

He's solid at the back and I think he's a great addition to the Forest squad. There will be some happy faces in Nottingham right now.

Lee Clarke

The chance to sign a defender who was so influential at a promotion winning outfit not so long ago is not to be sniffed at from a Forest perspective.

At £350,000 the price is decent too so doesn't represent a major risk for the Reds to contend with.

If anything this move could allow young Joe Worrall the chance to depart on loan and play some regular first-team football, so it seems a pretty shrewd move to me.
