Leeds United have recently been linked with a swoop for Tottenham Hotspur youngster Juan Foyth.

Marcelo Bielsa was recently appointed the new manager of Leeds and he is already looking to strengthen his options ahead of a potential promotion push, with Foyth emerging as one of his targets.

But what do we, at FLW, make of this potential deal?

Could it happen?

Bielsa is a manager who carries an international reputation with him - he is highly respected by many names in the game.

Mauricio Pochettino has previously been a player under Bielsa so that relationship has already been struck.

The Argentinian pair could strike a deal for Foyth - who is also from the same country - because it could be in the best interests of all parties.

Leeds need a new centre-half, Spurs need Foyth to gain some experience out on loan (preferably in England) and the relationship between Pochettino and Bielsa makes this a viable story.

Would Foyth be a good addition for Leeds?

After Matthew Pennington returned to Everton following his loan spell at Elland Road, Leeds are short at centre-half.

With Pontus Jansson also likely to attract interest if he has a good World Cup, Leeds could be searching for more than one player in that department.

A loan move for Foyth could therefore be a good piece of business as he is young and willing to improve.

Standing at 6ft 3in tall, the Argentina youth international is unlikely to be intimidated by the physicality of the division and should slot straight in.

The 20-year-old is also comfortable with the ball at his feet, which is imperative to Bielsa's style of play.

Bielsa plays a formation with three centre-backs so Foyth will need to be adaptable and have the ability to cover the wing-backs too, something that is within his capabilities.

Overall, it makes sense for Leeds to pursue this deal as he would be an upgrade on Liam Cooper but also to look for another centre-back as well - possibly Kyle Bartley.
