Sunderland are among a number of clubs including Aston Villa and Queens Park Rangers eyeing a move for Peterborough striker Jack Marriott, reports the Daily Mail.

With Lewis Grabban potentially being recalled by AFC Bournemouth in January, a striker will surely be the priority for Chris Coleman next month.

Is Jack Marriott the answer?

We discuss.....

Chris Gallagher

I'm not sure he's the answer.

Replacing Lewis Grabban is going to be a tough task and whilst the Posh striker is still young, I'm not sure he can cut it at this level yet.

Although, Sunderland are in a poor financial situation so going for younger, hungry players is the right approach, but with so much at stake, this is a risk.

Alfie Burns

The 23-year-old has been exceptional for Peterborough in League One so far this season, and it is no surprise to hear he is on the radar of some Championship clubs.

Sunderland are clearly planning for the departure of Lewis Grabban in January, and if Coleman is to look into the lower leagues for a replacement, Marriott is the obvious choice.

Could he cut it in the Championship and replace Grabban’s goals? That remains to be seen, but his form warrants an opportunity at a higher level.

George Dagless

This ticks a lot of boxes.

I think Sunderland would really profit from bringing him in and Marriott will surely get the game time he needs to develop.

There's going to be some big battles for this guy and Sunderland need to try and win out.
