Reading strolled past Aston Villa on their own turf in a 2-1 victory for the Royals on Tuesday night.

Reading were looking for their first win of the season after defeat to Queens Park Rangers and a draw to Fulham on the weekend.

They came up against a beleaguered Villa side who had just come off the back of a 3-0 thrashing at Cardiff.

After a dull opening thirty minutes, the Royals began to turn up the heat before half time, with John Swift going close before half-time.

Early in the second half, Adrian Popa raced into the box and fired in a powerful cross, which deflected off Glenn Whelan and looped into the goal, Reading scoring with the help of goal line technology.

They quickly doubled their lead, with Liam Moore found in bags of space from a corner, poking it to Modou Barrow who simply had to tap it in to double their lead.

With five minutes to go, Conor Hourihane's goal made things uncomfortable, but really, the home side were in total control for the majority of the game.

Here's what Reading fans on Twitter had to say on the proceedings....
