Tony Pulis is facing his toughest spell as manager of Middlesbrough in recent weeks, with many fans voicing their annoyance at his style of play.

They still sit inside the play-off places but will undoubtedly be looking to strengthen this month as they look to re-energise their automatic promotion push.

Rajiv van la Parra is the only player to have joined this month, moving on loan from Huddersfield, but it looks like Pulis has identified another target in the form of Norwich City striker Nelson Oliveira.

Oliveira made the move to the East Anglian club from Benfica back in 2016 for over £5million going on to make 70 appearances and score 20 goals in the process.

But he is yet to make a competitive appearance for the first team this season, with just three reserve appearances to his name.

The 27-year-old appears to have fallen out with Farke and his temperament and attitude will no doubt be a concern for any club that is looking to sign him.

But would he be a good signing for Boro?

We discuss...

Jacob Potter

"They don't need another striker.

"Middlesbrough already have a number of strong attacking options in their squad, and I struggle to see Oliveira getting in the starting XI ahead of who they already have.

"It would be a waste of wages, and they should steer clear of a move for the out-of-favour Canaries striker."

Gary Hutchinson

“I could see him at Boro.

“I think they lack a bit of quality going forward, with their defensive record they should be top two.

“They need something else in attack, something fresh and new.

“Oliveira might just be that player.”

Louie Chandler

"This strikes me as Pulis laziness.

"Middlesbrough have plenty of top Championship strikers but it appears that rather than work to get the best out of them, he would rather try and find a quick fix.

"It is easy to see why Boro fans are losing patience with him."
