Sheffield Wednesday have enjoyed an upturn in fortunes in recent weeks with Lee Bullen taking over from Jos Luhukay in a temporary role.

Towards the end of Luhukay's tenure at Hillsborough, things were getting both too confusing and toxic and the Owls had had their wings clipped.

Since, though, the cloud appears to have lifted and they'll now be looking to enjoy a brighter 2019 under a new manager.

Indeed, it is widely expected that Steve Bruce will be the club's new boss but, as per Mark Clemmit, due to a prior personal commitment the former Villa man won't come in straight away.

Indeed, in perhaps surprising news for Owls fans, the experienced boss is going to arrive at Hillsborough on the first of next month, rather than come in straight away:

The Verdict

Certainly, this is a bit of an odd way of doing things but clearly Bruce has committed to something that he feels he can not go back on now.

Owls fans will hope, then, that this delay in him coming in won't impact results or January dealings though it should be said he'll surely have some say on the latter at least.

Lee Bullen, meanwhile, has shown that he is more than capable of looking after things right now.
