Leeds United have had a third bid rejected for Southampton striker Che Adams, including an option to buy for £20Million in the summer if Leeds clinch promotion this season.
Leeds are looking to add more firepower to their squad after losing Eddie Nketiah, who returned to Arsenal after a lack of playing time in the first half of the season. This has left Leeds with a huge gap in the squad as Patrick Bamford is the only senior striker that Marcelo Bielsa has to select.
In an attempt to add more goals, the Whites have turned their attention to Saints’ striker Che Adams and have been dogged in their pursuit of him this month. He has been the top priority this month but the Whites seem to be set to miss out on the former Birmingham forward this month.
The Yorkshire Evening Post is now reporting that Leeds have had a third bid for Adams rejected by Southampton, which included an option to buy him in the summer for a whopping £20Million if Leeds seal their promotion back to the Premier League.
Leeds have been in this position before under Marcelo Bielsa as they battled with Swansea over the signing of Daniel James last January only for it to collapse in the last minute, leaving Leeds very light of options in the second half of the season.
Adams is still thought to be part of Ralph Hasenhuttl’s plans at St. Mary’s this season and he came on to help the Saints to a crucial 2-0 win over Crystal Palace last night to lift them into the top half of the Premier League.
With this news breaking of Leeds’ third bid being rejected, we take a look at how fans reacted…
That's it then. No point in holding out for this one any longer. know argument about if get promotion will be worth it but have to draw line somewhere. Let Southampton know that is final offer & can still do deal if they change their minds but that may not be the case soon. #lufc

It’s almost as if Ralph said he wasn’t going to let him go a few weeks ago.

Do you know what these former Leeds United players do now?
Forget him then.

This sounds really desperate.
Ultimately that’s a deal to pay £20m for a striker to lead the line in the Premier League, who hasn’t scored a single Premier League goal.

Are we not offering enough up front for the loan deal to happen???? Cause quite honestly, 20m is outrageous!!

Forget him and move on

Well can’t say we didn’t try.

Staggered they’ve turned that down
— IsThatConfirmed (@IsThatConfirmed) January 22, 2020
Glad they turned it down
Not worth £20million
If he was that good, he wouldn't be 4th string striker

Nobody can moan the club hasn’t tried on this one, put a line through it and go again, at least we haven’t left it til the last day #LUFC
