Newcastle United can finally lift the weight of expectation off their shoulders as they secured their promotion back to the Premier League last week, however their eyes will still be firmly on the Championship title.

The Magpies find themselves just one point behind league leaders Brighton and Hove Albion going into the final game of the 2016/17 campaign, however with promotion now a certainty, Rafa Benitez can look at potential summer targets that will be key assets next term.

The Spaniard is likely to be very active in the summer after what was an extremely disappointing January transfer window, in which Newcastle failed to bring in a single player, which could ultimately be the main reason why they don't finish at the top of the tree come the end of the campaign.

The likes of Matt Ritchie, Dwight Gayle and Jonjo Shelvey have been influential for the Tyneside club this term.

However with the likes of Christian Atsu's loan expiring at the end of the campaign, and with Yoan Gouffran likely to depart on a free, one position that Benitez should definitely look to target is a left-sided winger, and there is one player who fits the bill.

A reported January target of the Geordies, Alfonso Pedraza, chose a move to promotion-chasing Leeds United, who have now failed to clinch a play-off spot after a 3-3 draw with Norwich City at the weekend.

But the Spanish under-19 international has been a revelation ever since his arrival on loan at Elland Road, and leaves the Yorkshire club a different player, and more importantly, acclimatised to English football.

Garry Monk's chances of retaining the winger next year will be very slim, and with Newcastle going up to the top flight, Benitez should definitely look to lure his fellow countryman to St. James' Park in the summer.

The 21-year old returns to parent club Villareal after making 11 appearances for Leeds, netting twice, and should definitely be a high priority on Benitez' transfer shortlist.
