Huddersfield Town are showing signs of a revival under Danny Cowley, with the Terriers up to 18th in the Championship and unbeaten in their last seven matches.

Cowley is still looking to strengthen his squad though, with us at Football League World exclusively reporting that the Terriers are keeping tabs on Boreham Wood striker Kabongo Tshimanga.

The 22-year-old has scored 11 goals so far this campaign, and is also attracting interest from Alex Neil's Preston.

So would Tshimanga be a good signing for Huddersfield and is he actually needed?

We discuss.........

Kris Smith

“This signing could be a risk because Tshimanga might not have the quality needed to make the step up to the Championship at this moment.

“The striker has never played higher than League One and has mostly plied his trade in non-league football so far in his career, meaning it could be a huge challenge to adjust to the second-tier with Huddersfield.

“With that being said, his goal-scoring record has been tremendous this season for Boreham Wood and with the small transfer fee that the club would command, it could be a bargain.

“Huddersfield striker Karlan Grant has recently been linked with Wolves and if he were to leave, the Terriers would need to replace with established quality. Tshimanga would be a huge gamble to fill that void so would probably only serve as a backup at the moment.”

Louie Chandler

"With 11 goals in 20 games this season it is easy to see why the striker has been attracting this level of attention.

"But I am not convinced that it should be a priority for Huddersfield. In Karlan Grant and Frazer Campbell they already have two proven Championship marksmen at their disposal and taking a punt on a non-league prospect seems a bit pointless.

"Surely Cowley and the Huddersfield board would be better off focusing on their creative issues instead and bolstering a midfield that has not been up to scratch so far.

"If they can get a good deal for the young forward there is no harm in trying, but I don't see it as a necessity at all."

"Tshimanga is obviously a promising young player and he could be a decent signing for Huddersfield.

"He's been in great scoring form for Boreham Wood in the National League and he could be able to make the step up to the Championship.

"With that said, his signing would have to be considered a bit of a gamble. He doesn't have any experience in the Championship and would need to adapt quickly to the challenges that come with playing at that level.

"I can't see him starting games for Huddersfield ahead of the likes of Karlan Grant or Frazier Campbell this season, but he could be a good signing nonetheless.

"If Huddersfield were to sign him, perhaps they would consider loaning him out to a club in League One or League Two to allow him to gain some valuable experience."
