Twitter user @StatsChristian has revealed the remarkable odds that were handed out at the start of the Sky Bet Championship season, for Chris Wood to be the division’s leading goalscorer.
Leeds United forward, Wood, had odds as long as 40/1 for him to be the Championship’s leading marksmen, something that is now a real possibility, with him ahead in the current goalscoring charts with 24 league goals.
@StatsChristian compares Wood’s odds to Ross McCormack, who after a big money move from Fulham to Aston Villa, was as short as 4/1 to be the Championship’s leading goalscorer.
McCormack has endured a difficult season, finding the net of just four occasions, and was shipped out of Villa Park on-loan during the January transfer window, signing for Nottingham Forest.

Forest and McCormack are now facing a relegation battle, with Mark Warburton’s side just one-point above the relegation zone, a stark comparison to Wood, who is challenging for a place in the Premier League with the Whites.
Garry Monk’s side are fourth in the Championship table, and after Saturday’s 2-0 victory over Brighton and Hove Albion, will be full of confidence heading into the run-in.
