There is no-doubt that Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa will be looking to strengthen his squad this summer, having fallen just short in the race for promotion last season, following play-off semi-final defeat to Derby County.

Bielsa will though be looking to utilise his existing squad, that when fit and available, worked so well for him over the course of the season, with winger Ezgjan Alioski a perfect example, having been utilised at left-back for most of the season.

But should Leeds continue to use Alioski as a left-back next season?

We discuss........

Jacob Potter

"This should be a no-brainer..

"Alioski might not be a left-back by trade, but I see no reason as to why the Macedonian international can’t play there next season.

"He hardly put a foot wrong all season at left-back, and he suits the style of play perfectly at Leeds.

"His energy up and down the left flank caused a real threat going forward, as well as containing attacks from the opposition.

"Barry Douglas hasn’t filled me with confidence in recent months, so Alioski should definitely be considered for a starting spot at left-back, as Leeds look to win promotion to the Premier League next season."

George Brooks

"Alioski was outstanding for Leeds last season before his injury and I don't see why Leeds shouldn't continue with him at left-back.

"He proved with his performances last season that he's more than capable of playing in that position, but he's also very effective in a more advanced role.

"Leeds have got plenty of players who are capable of playing at left-back, but I think Alioski will probably do a better job than Stuart Dallas or Barry Douglas in that position.

"Marcelo Bielsa has shown his faith in the young players for Leeds and maybe he will want to give Leif Davis a chance at left-back.

"I don't think anybody played more minutes for Leeds last season than Alioski did and he's a very useful player for Bielsa to have in his side.

"If injuries play their part, as they did last season, then Alioski could feature in both positions.

"I expect him to play another important role for Leeds next season, either at left-back or in a more advanced role."

Ned Holmes

"The reports that Bielsa is seeking three new wingers would suggest the coach sees his future in that role and so he should.

"Alioski did brilliantly when he came into the team for Barry Douglas last season and I fully expect him to compete for that spot this season.

"The Macedonian provides Bielsa with an extra weapon on the pitch when pushes forward and attacks from left-back, and continuing to utilise him in that role should allow Leeds to be more of a threat next season.

"As a converted wide-midfielder, I would be concerned about his defensive fragility as a Premier League left back if Leeds were to achieve promotion next season but he showed last season he is a viable option in the Championship."
