Sheffield United's new Championship campaign got off to an impressive start this weekend as they beat Brentford 1-0 at Brammall Lane.

Chris Wilder's team are not at all amongst the favourites for relegation and after a decent showing on the opening day of the season, there's hope amongst Blades fans that the team could mount an unlikely push for the play-offs.

Wilder has added to his squad proficiently over the past few weeks and one man that seriously impressed us during the game was Chelsea loanee Jamal Blackman.

After making 52 appearances for Wycombe Wanderers last season, the young goalkeeper has made the step up to the Championship, joining the Blades on-loan. He was drafted in for the first game of the season and impressed, keeping a clean sheet infront of the Brammall Lane faithful, who lapped up his assured performance.

A late stop against Neal Maupay was probably his highlight, which certainly preserved the points for the Blades on the day.

Of course, playing for Chelsea is still probably a long way off for the 23-year-old, who has a huge amount of competition infront of him when he returns to Stamford Bridge.

But if he can continue turning in solid performances, like the one we saw this weekend, Antonio Conte should certainly start taking note.

The only worry for young Blackman is where he will stand when Sheffield's first-choice goalkeeper Simon Moore returns to the fold.

Blackman is likely to be back-up when his colleague does return but more good displays before that happens will be key if he's to a have a long run in the first-team.

The Chelsea youngster commands his box well, isn't afraid to bark orders at his defence and is a good ball-playing keeper too- something you'd expect from someone coming down from the Championship.

Everything points to a very promising young man who can play a big part in Sheffield United's season. Blades fans will be hoping a push for the play-offs shouldn't be written off in the slightest, especially after the opening day win.
