West Bromwich Albion are weighing up a move for Aston Villa full-back Alan Hutton, who will be a free-agent in the summer, according to the Sunday People via Birmingham Live.

Would the 33-year-old be a wise signing for the Baggies?

We discuss....

Ben Barkworth

Hutton would add more depth to West Brom in the right-back position as well as experience.

He isn't the best signing for that position, but the fact that he is a free agent means he could be a useful bargain.

Jay Williams

Whether Aston Villa stay down or go up, they should let Hutton leave.

Moving forward, James Bree is their long term replacement for the Scotsman and they should be looking to give him more opportunities immediately rather than persevering with Hutton.

At 33, Hutton is not getting any younger and Villa should start looking to the future.

George Dagless

It's a great shout.

He knows the league and what it takes to challenge at the sharp end whilst he'd bring experience and fight to the cause.

West Brom have lacked hunger this season and they need to add more hard-working players to their squad for what's likely going to be a Championship-based season.

Alfie Burns

Hutton has been exceptional for Villa this season, really proving his quality.

Presuming that West Brom are planning for the Championship, he’d be a great addition at the Hawthorns.

Hutton has experience and is versatile, and his experience of stepping down into the Championship with Villa could be really important for West Brom.

Gary Hutchinson

This seems like a sensible move, Hutton has Championship experience with Villa and West Brom are definitely going to need it.

They do need to be careful, Hutton is a 'name' so to speak, but they must blend players such as him with some of the lesser-known Championship players if they're to survive. Take a look at Sunderland, don't follow their lead and you'll be fine.

It would be a good start to a recruitment policy, but they'll need to be more creative elsewhere in the squad.
