Queens Park Rangers’ summer transfer activity took time to get going, but in the final days of the window, manager Ian Holloway secured three signings to bolster his R’s squad.

The acquisitions of Paul Smyth, David Wheeler and Bright Osayi-Samuel eased the pressure on the squad, with the trio set to slip straight into the match day squad for this weekend’s visit of Ipswich Town.

Smyth joined from Linfield, with Wheeler and Osayi-Samuel joining from Exeter and Blackpool respectively.

19-year-old Osayi-Samuel particularly stands out, with the young winger having been linked with a move to the Premier League at the back end of last season.

The youngster appears to have a bright future in the game, and a switch to the Championship will be a true test of the player’s growing credentials.

Just like Brentford forward Ollie Watkins before him, Osayi-Samuel has the potential to shine after making the step-up from the lower levels of the Football League, and his raw pace and power is sure to cause problems for defences at this level.

His former boss at Blackpool, Gary Bowyer, has expressed his surprise that Premier League clubs did not swoop for the player on deadline-day, and with a series of league outings already under his belt at such a young age, his experience should allow a smooth transition to the second tier.

Osayi-Samuel really is a signing fans of the west London club can get excited about, and if the player can realise the potential that he has shown in his fledgling career, then the sell-on value to QPR could be astronomical.

A wonderful piece of business by Holloway, Osayi-Samuel is set for an impressive future at Loftus Road.
