QPR have had an excellent start to the season so far and will be delighted with the positive ambition that they are showing in these early months of the campaign.

They did suffer a blip however on Monday night when they were defeated at home by rivals Brentford.

It was a big blow for Mark Warburton's side, and their defensive work continues to be scrutinised with the R's not being able to keep a clean sheet so far in this current campaign.

It really is an awful tally, and when you look at the table and how well they've done so far in the season, this one problem is severely holding them back from making a real push for the top six.

Warburton has tried to change the defence around on several occasions, but nothing seems to work and despite the midfield staying pretty much the same, some supporters feel that this is where changes could be made.

Josh Scowen and Geoff Cameron are the two who sit in front of the defenders, but Scowen failed to get to grips with the game on Monday, and that isn't the first time he has looked out of sorts so far this season.

If QPR decided to take him out the side and replace him with another holding midfielder who could just sit, like Cameron does, then the team would look a lot more balanced.

Yes, it's a risk due to the amount of running Scowen does, and all the tackles that he's able to make but there are players on the bench who can fill his role with some a more defensive attitude.

One man, who's primary position is a defender is Dominic Ball. However, earlier in the season he was playing as a holding midfielder and put in some very impressive displays.

If Warbuton can bring him into the side and manage to get him playing that holding role then that could massively contribute to the team's ability to defend as well as free up players such as Ilias Chair and Eberechi Eze to attack more often.

There's no denying that Scowen bring his qualities to the side, but sometimes they are unneeded in what has been a very leaky R's side.
