Luton Town will be boosted by the return of Danny Hylton this weekend after a month on the treatment table.

17-goal Hylton suffered an injury in the 1-0 win against Morecambe on January 20th and hasn't been in the side since.

Speaking to Dunstable Today, manager Nathan Jones confirmed he'll be back in the side for the visit of Cheltenham Town.

“It wasn’t so much a hamstring, just a neural problem in his back. He had a slight bit of inflammation in there which they’ve got rid of. We always want to be cautious with them and now it seems to have worked as he’s had a full weeks training and is ready to go.”

Former Aldershot striker Hylton has been in superb form this season as the Hatters have set the pace in League Two. His most recent goal came as Luton suffered a 3-1 defeat at Newcastle in the FA Cup, by no means a humiliating result at all.

He hasn't scored in League Two since New Year's Day when he grabbed one in a 4-2 win against play-off hopefuls Lincoln City. Along with James Collins he's formed a deadly partnership that boats 33 goals in all competitions, more than each of the sides in the bottom three have scored.

Collins cost Luton £100,000 from Crawley in pre-season whilst Hylton arrived on a free transfer from Oxford at the start of the previous season.

He now has 44 goals for the Hatters in just over eighteen months and that tally will only increase over the next couple of months as defences fail to deal with his considerable threat.

The Verdict

Hylton's return spells only one thing for League Two's other promotion chasing sides: trouble. He's lethal at this level and with Collins he's set to fire the Hatters to League One or even beyond.

It isn't just goals he brings, he's a cynical and aggressive striker too, eight yellow cards are testament to that. Cheltenham beware, if Danny Hylton has a point to prove I'm afraid very little will stop him doing so.
