Luton Town started the League Two season in emphatic fashion.

The Hatters blew Yeovil Town away at Kenilworth Road on Saturday with an incredible 8-2 victory.

The Luton Town fans will be hoping that this has set the precedent for a successful season after they fell narrowly short of winning promotion to League One last year.

Luton have a strong squad for the fourth tier of English football and there is some healthy competition for places.

Their midfield region is particularly strong with the likes of Pelly Ruddock and Andrew Shinnie, who should arguably both be playing at a higher level.

Even though the central midfield ranks are packed with talent, there is a young starlet on the periphery of the first team squad who is surely knocking on the door.

Tyreeq Bakinson cannot be far away from breaking into the senior set-up after playing four cup matches last term.

The defensive midfielder is tall, strong, quick and agile; everything you require from a physical midfield enforcer.

The 18-year-old is young and inexperienced but certainly capable of featuring in League Two after an impressive pre-season for the Hatters.

Luton could hand an opportunity to Tyreeq Bakinson in midweek as they prepare to host Ipswich Town in the EFL Cup.

This is the perfect opportunity for Bakinson to make a claim for a first team spot.

If the teenage talent can impress against Championship opposition, Nathan Jones can simply not ignore him any more.

Luton need to give Bakinson more opportunities because he is one for the future.
