Sheffield Wednesday will be looking to record back-to-back wins for only the second time this season when they take on Bolton tomorrow.

They travel to the Macron Stadium to face a side that are extremely low on confidence and are the only side in the EFL without a win this season.

Therefore, it's a great opportunity for Wednesday to get three points on the board and they've also been boosted by the return of Glenn Loovens.

The Sheffield Star revealed a stat that shows just how important the Dutch defender is to the Owls.

Under Carlos Carvalhal the ex-Celtic man has played 70 games, with a win ratio of 49%. During the same period without Loovens, that drops to 37%.

Additionally, the Owls conceded 1.18 goals per game without the experienced player and that falls to 0.8 goals per game when he does play.

Finally, 38% of the games that Loovens has played have seen the Owls keep a clean sheet, compared to 26% when he doesn't feature.

So, despite his age and the obvious problems that brings, you cannot doubt the influence of Glenn Loovens who is clearly a vital player for Carvalhal and Wednesday.

The Verdict

Those figures make some very good reading for Loovens who clearly helps the team when he plays.

Not only is he a dominant and powerful defender, but he is a leader and can help organise the team in various aspects of the play.

Whilst Joost van Aken has shown promising signs stepping in for his countryman, it will be tempting for Carvalhal to revert back to his experienced option given how inconsistent Wednesday have been this season.
