Swansea City avoided relegation from the Premier League this season, but were largely in debt to Paul Clement, whose arrival midway through the campaign ultimately saved the Swans from the Championship.

Clement’s side finished the season a respectable 15th, seven-points clear of the relegation zone, but that does not tell the whole story of the Premier League campaign, where it looked increasingly likely that it would be either Swansea or Hull City that occupied the final relegation place.

Along with Clement, Swansea had Fernando Llorente to thank for their survival, with the Spanish striker scoring 15 goals throughout the season, including four in the final five fixtures of the campaign.

However, the 32-year old could be leaving the Liberty Stadium this summer, with reported interest in the striker and a number of clubs, including Chelsea, keen to take Llorente away from Wales.

Should Llorente leave this summer, Clement must replace him, and could well look into the Championship to find the striker’s replacement.

One player who could interest Clement is Nottingham Forest’s Britt Assombalonga, who has proved himself to be an excellent striker during his spell at the City Ground.

The 24-year old arrived at Forest ahead of the 2014/15 campaign, and has scored 30 goals in just 69 appearances, despite missing much of the 2015/16 season through injury.

Forest were disappointing in the Championship last season, avoiding relegation by the finest of margins, however, Assombalonga still scored 14 goals across all competitions, yet again standing out at the City Ground.

Should Llorente leave Swansea this summer, Assombalonga could be the ideal replacement, having shown over the last year, he could be ready to make the step up into the Premier League.
