Barnsley's preparations for the new season have been hit with yet another major blow as star player Andy Yiadom is trying to force a move to Huddersfield Town.

He is set to follow in the footsteps of Marc Roberts, Josh Scowen and Marley Watkins, who are three other key first team players that have left Oakwell this summer.

If we add the January departures of vital trio Conor Hourihane, Sam Winnall and James Bree to the mix, as well as last summer's loss of Alfie Mawson, then we must commend Barnsley for doing a fantastic job of rebuilding their squad and unearthing gems on a regular basis.

Paul Heckingbottom has yet again had to reassemble his squad with a number of new signings but one man could develop into a valuable player next season.

George Moncur has shown glimpses of his incredible natural talent towards the end of last season and during pre-season, suggesting that he will feature as a major part of Barnsley's plans next season.

The central midfielder oozes class with his quality on the ball, his passing range and his ability to do the defensive and attacking work in equal measure.

If Barnsley play a defensive-minded midfielder next to Moncur in the middle, he will flourish given the extra license to burst forward and join the attacks.

The 23-year-old is still young, learning, improving and developing.

If Heckingbottom gives him a vote of confidence and makes him a regular starter, the former West Ham United academy graduate will possibly be able to fulfil the potential which made him one of the top young Hammers of his generation.
