QPR manager Mark Warburton is on the verge of strengthening his squad with the R's close to agreeing a deal to sign Tottenham winger Jack Clarke on loan for the remainder of the season, as reported in the Mirror.

The London club appear to have seen off interest from Middlesbrough, Stoke City and Millwall among other Championship clubs in the race to sign Clarke who was recalled from Leeds earlier this month after hardly featuring under Marcelo Bielsa.

So would Clarke be a good fit at QPR and will he start regularly?

We discuss........

Jordan Rushworth

“This certainly seems likes a good move for QPR, with Clarke having plenty of ability to develop into an effective attacking option if he is able to secure the regular game time which he was unable to get during his loan spell with Leeds United in the first half of the campaign.

“QPR are on of the most potent attacking sides in the Championship this season under Mark Warburton, and Clarke would certainly be able to add some extra depth to their attacking threats were he to arrive at Loftus Road this month.

“However, with the likes of Eberechi Eze, Bright Osayi-Samuel and Ilias Chair all displaying excellent form so far this campaign, it would be a real task for Clarke to force his way into Warburton’s starting line-up, though he would certainly be an option for the QPR boss to call upon from the bench.

“Clarke will be needing to get regular minutes during the rest of the season, and if he can force his way into QPR’s starting line-up he should really suit the attacking style that Warburton has got his side playing, so could well flourish as long as he gets the chance to impress.”

George Harbey

"I think that QPR could be a really good club for Clarke to play his football and progress at to be honest.

"The way Mark Warburton likes his team to play would suit Clarke really well indeed - he is a winger who loves the ball to feet, take on his man and get to the byline as quickly as possible.

"It could be tough for him to break into the team, though. They already have some really impressive attacking players in their ranks, and it will be more important for them to develop the likes of Ilias Chair and Bright Osayi-Samuel before thinking about Clarke.

"But he is used to being a super-sub after his time at Leeds last season, and he is the kind of player who will want to get his head down and work hard to prove his critics wrong after a turbulent season so far."

Josh Cole

“This may turn out to be an inspired move by QPR if Clarke is able to hit the ground running at the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium.

“Although the winger struggled to make any inroads on Leeds’ starting eleven during his brief loan stint with the club earlier this season, he has illustrated some encouraging signs at Championship level in the past.

“Whilst Clarke could find it difficult to displace Eberechi Eze on the left-hand side of midfield given the 21-year-old’s outstanding recent form, he will fancy his chances of overtaking Bright Osayi-Samuel in the pecking order at QPR.

“Providing that the Tottenham youngster is given the chance to play regularly by Mark Warburton, there is no reason why he cannot help the Hoops achieve a relative amount of success in the coming months.”
