Bolton Wanderers fans are facing up to life in League One next season after the 2-0 Good Friday defeat to Aston Villa was enough to send the Trotters down.

Bolton lost again 2-0 on Easter Monday this time to Blackburn Rovers, leaving Phil Parkinson's side down in 23rd sport, 11 points from safety with only two matches of their season remaining.

Parkinson though, has told the Bolton News that he believes he has the credentials to gain promotion from League One next season, though with a new owner-in-waiting in Laurence Bassini waiting for the EFL rubber-stamp, there is no guarantee that Parkinson will be given the chance to take the Trotters into a League One campaign.

So is Parkinson right to believe he can get Bolton promoted next season?

We discuss.........

Toby Wilding

"This may be one he needs to let go.

"The general mood among fans is that the time for Parkinson is over, and with a new start in the boardroom, it may be best to move Parkinson on to avoid any potential continuation of the bad mood from the stands at the club.

"Even if he does stay, there is so much uncertainty around Bassini's plans for the club, that it is hard to know what anyone will have at their disposal to get Bolton back to the Championship with."

Gary Hutchinson

“Maybe he can.

“Maybe he can’t.

“The fact is whatever he does has been impeded up until now. The new owner won’t sort the problems overnight, he’s not Harry otter.

“There’s a lot of work needs to go into that football club and simply being a bigger side in a smaller pond is not enough.”

Louie Chandler

"He definitely can as he has done it before.

"However, I seriously doubt that he will get the chance to given how the fans have seemingly turned on his style of play this season.

"The fans will demand a chance so that is ultimately what I expect to happen."
