With Stoke City heading towards mid-table obscurity this season, manager Nathan Jones probably cannot wait for the summer, when he will have the chance of giving his squad a major overhaul, as he prepares for a tilt at promotion next season in the Championship.

One player who could well be heading out of the Bet365 Stadium is veteran midfielder Darren Fletcher who has had limited chances this season with the Potters, and is a potential target for Ole Gunnar Solskjær's backroom staff at Manchester United, according to The Telegraph.

So would Fletcher be a good recruit to the United staff?

We discuss.........

George Brooks

"I think it's a good opportunity for Fletcher to begin the next chapter of his career. "It's a chance for him to return to Manchester United, a club he knows very well and is close to his heart. "The midfielder is out of contract at Stoke in the summer and has not played as much football as he would have hoped this season, so he may be thinking about retiring and making his next step, after a fantastic playing career."

Alfie Burns

"This makes perfect sense.

“Something needs to change within the setup at Old Trafford and it might not be a bad thing bringing in people who know the club well.

“Fletcher’s future with Stoke is massively up in the air and he will probably be looking at other options beyond the summer.

“Linking back up with Manchester United could prove to be a brilliant career move.”

George Dagless

"I could see that.

"He's a hard-working, honest person and would bring the culture of United back to that club.

"United look gutless and soulless at the moment and they need a reminder of who they are."

Gary Hutchinson

“I can’t see it being a huge blow to anybody to lose him!

“Seriously, what’s his contribution been this season?

“If Man Utd want him, let him go.

“The future doesn’t lay with him, that’s for sure.”
