Sean Maguire has signed a new three-year contract with Preston.

The 24-year-old only joined the club last summer from Cork City, but his transition to the Championship was seamless. He was key during the latter stages of the season in helping the club deal with the departure of Jordan Hugill who joined West Ham in January.

Maguire only returned from a serious injury in March, after a four month absence, but his goals helped them mount a serious play-off push, although they ultimately came up short because the finished two points adrift in seventh. They will be aiming to build on that after an impressive first season under Alex Neil.

He scored 10 goals and provided three assists in 24 league games, which saw him rewarded with a new contract to ward off potential suitors, so the club clearly sees him having a promising future with the team.
