League Two side Crawley Town have confirmed the signing of Cardiff City striker Ibrahim Meite on a season long loan.

Meite joined the Bluebirds, who currently sit top of the Championship table, from non-league Harrow Borough in January of this year and has so far made just two appearances for the club.

Here at FLW, we think this is the most beneficial signing for the player at the moment.

There was always going to be questions asked of a non-league player getting signed up by a Championship club.

With so few performances for Cardiff so far, none of those questions have been answered so dropping all the way down to League Two will go some way in doing that.

At Crawley, Meite can get some first team football under his belt for a club in the Football League and show his parent club that he has what it takes to succeed there.

If Cardiff keep up their impressive form this season then they will be there or thereabouts at the top of the table come the end of the season.

If Neil Warnock can guide them to promotion then there will be no room for any old average player for the would be Premier League club.

The 20-year-old will need to recreate the impressive form he showed at non-league level to get him noticed by Cardiff in the first place if he is to succeed.

Meite’s time in Crawley is going to make or break him and either prove that there are some hidden gems in non-league football, or that Jamie Vardy was a one off and that everybody should stop trying to replicate it.
