With their play-off hopes hanging in the balance, Leeds manager, Garry Monk, has it all to do over the summer.

Reported interest from Norwich City may see the 38-year-old depart for Carrow Road, but if the former Swansea boss opts to remain in Yorkshire, then he will have a rebuilding job to begin at the end of the season.

Leeds looked certain to secure a top six finish just weeks ago, but a string of poor results has seen the Whites slip down to 7th in the table, three points behind play-off rivals, Fulham.

Blame for this poor run will be argued long into the night in pubs around the city, but some has been attributed to the poor form of Pablo Hernandez.

The Spaniard is undoubtedly a quality player, but the January permanent signing has struggled in recent weeks.

One win in their last six has left their season in tatters, and fans have questioned Monk’s decision not to drop the former Swan from the side.

Hernandez’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season, and if Leeds do indeed fail in their bid for a top six finish, Hernandez will almost certainly leave the club.

At 32, a return to his homeland may be on the cards, or the player may return to the Middle East for a bumper pay day in the latter stages of his career.

Whatever happens this summer at Leeds United over the coming weeks and months, the club must look to next season, and Spaniard Hernandez’s time at Yorkshire seems to be up.
