Two points from the bottom three with two games to go - that’s got sleepless nights written all over it.

Yet despite the stress associated with such a precarious position, 70-year-old Harry Redknapp has accepted the challenge to keep Birmingham City in the Sky Bet Championship.

The Blues need results from their final two fixtures at home to Huddersfield Town, and away at Bristol City, if they are to ensure their survival in the league.

Birmingham looked like promotion candidates at the beginning of the season, and were in the top six when Gary Rowett was mysteriously removed from his position.

Gianfranco Zola was the man brought in to lead the Blues to glory, but things could not have gone any worse for the Italian.

The former Chelsea player inspired his team to only two wins in their next 24 games, and left the side of the brink of relegation.

Redknapp has it all to do if he is to avoid taking the Brummie side to the third tier of English football for the first time since 1995, and will have to muster all of his managerial experience to avoid the drop.

If Birmingham stay up, they will need to massively improve their squad to avoid being dragged into another relegation scrap. If they go down, there will be an exodus of players, and a host of new faces will have to be brought into the club.

Whatever happens, one man who could lead the Blues frontline is a man who has been scoring goals for fun in League One.

Lee Gregory has found his feet at Millwall, and the Yorkshire born striker has found the net on 15 occasions this season.

After graduating from the youth academy at hometown club, Sheffield United, Gregory drifted into non-league football, where he was prolific with Halifax Town.

The player continued his form at Millwall after joining in 2014, and now a fresh challenge may be on the cards, should Millwall not secure promotion this season.

At 28, Gregory is not young, but Birmingham need a proven goalscorer.

The club also have history in buying ageing, but consistent scorers, with Clayton Donaldson joining the Blues from Brentford at the age of 30 in 2014.

Goals have started to dry up for the Jamaican international, and Gregory could be the man to replace them.

The Lions will be reluctant to let their star man go, and with a year remaining on his contract, Birmingham will have to open the cheque book to acquire the player.

Gregory is a quality player, and Birmingham would significantly improve their squad with the addition of the striker.
