Stoke City defender Moritz Bauer has signed a new contract with the club.

The Austria international, who has five caps for his country, joined Stoke last summer from Rubin Kazan and he signed a four-and-a-half year deal then.

But now he has extended his current contract to a five-year deal, committing his future to the club until the summer of 2023, and boosting Gary Rowett's options ahead of their Championship campaign.

The 26-year-old, who plays as a right-back, featured 15 times for Stoke in the Premier League after joining in January but he could not prevent his club from suffering relegation to the second tier.

But Bauer's personal performances impressed Stoke fans as he became a firm fans' favourite with the Potters.

Bauer joins midfielder Lasse Sorensen in penning a new contract today.

Here are eight tweets from Stoke fans following the news that Bauer had signed a new contract with the club.
