Jordan Archer has insisted his Millwall side will be fine this season and avoid relegation back to League One.

Neil Harris’ men are currently one place and one point above the bottom three in the division and are in for a tough Christmas that could make or break their chances of pulling away from the trap door to the third tier.

In an interview with NewsAtDen, Archer explained why he felt his team had more than enough to survive in the Championship this term.

“We’ve got more than enough quality in this squad going into the second half of the season. This Christmas period coming up is crucial.

“But we’re not going to dwell too much on that. There have only been a couple of games – Sheffield United and Birmingham at home – that teams have come and dominated us.

“We’ve been very, very unlucky, we’ve conceded a lot of late goals, and we’ve got injuries on top of that."

Archer had returned to the first team after a two-month absence ahead of Ben Amos who lost his place when Millwall played Bolton as he was ineligible for the fixture due to being on loan from Wanderers.

The goalkeeper’s comments are positive, to say the least, that there is confidence in the camp ahead of six games in 18 days.

With that, we asked our team of FLW writers if they agreed with Archer’s latest comments regarding Millwall’s chances of retaining their status as a Championship side come May...

Gary Hutchinson

I think he’s being a bit too confident.

It smacks of him trying to lift his teammates, after all, he isn’t going to admit they’re facing an uphill battle, is he?

They are. They’re short of talent right now, but in the grand scheme of things, there should be three teams worse than them this season. Just.

Alfie Burns

It’s only right that there is some worry at Millwall, but they should be fine this season.

For me, there are three worse teams in the division and in time, they will pull clear.

This kind of positive attitude is needed, though.

George Harbey

It’s good to see Archer remain confident about his side’s chances of survival, but only as long as he knows that it’s going to take a hell of a lot of hard work.

The Lions sit just above the relegation zone and still have many crunch games left.

The Christmas period will define their season.

Louie Chandler

You have to say he is right.

Last season showed how good the club can be, yes, they have lost a few players since then, but they should have more than enough.

If Harris can get them playing with confidence again, then there is no reason they cannot stay up.
