Middlesbrough continue to disappoint in the Sky Bet Championship, with Garry Monk’s side failing to mount a serious push for an instant Premier League return.

The appointment of Monk over the summer helped Boro become favourites for automatic promotion, and after the former Leeds boss was handed a hefty transfer kitty, it seemed like Boro would bounce straight back.

However, the Teessiders are miles off in the race for automatic promotion, and three defeats in their last four has seen their top-six ambitions take a huge hit, with Monk’s side now heading into a crucial festive period in grim form.

For us, here at FLW, we believe the blame lies with Monk, and if Boro’s supporters are looking at someone to point the finger at, it should be their manager.

Monk arrived at the Riverside with an excellent reputation, having excelled in his previous two jobs at Leeds and Swansea City.

However, Monk has failed to discover his best starting XI, which Boro are paying for, with there absolutely no consistency at the Riverside after the opening months of the season.

Of course, Monk’s side will be fighting for a top-six finish later this season, but for now they have been hugely disappointing, with their manager failing to live up to the glorious reputation he brought.

Boro’s supporters will be looking for someone to blame, and the finger must be pointed at Monk.
