Preston North End were comprehensively beaten by in-form Cardiff City 4-0 in South Wales as the Lilywhites' slight play-off hopes look to be dying with every passing game.

And all good feeling from last week's Lancashire derby victory over Blackburn Rovers has now dissipated following back-to-back defeats against Watford and now Cardiff.

Two good teams indeed but North End did a lot right against the Hornets in midweek and were only put away by a Joao Pedro penalty.

And a penalty opened the scoring at the Cardiff City Stadium after just two minutes, but unfortunately for PNE that wasn't the end of the opposition's scoring.

Kieffer Moore opened Cardiff's account from the spot, and their second came just 27 seconds into the second half through Josh Murphy.

North End then suffered from some poor luck as they had two penalties saved in quick succession by Paul Gallagher and Ched Evans thanks to the magic hands of Dillon Phillips.

The Bluebirds eventually put the game to bed thanks to goals from Marlon Pack and Mark Harris, and the result has prompted a furious response from PNE fans on social media - who are targeting manager Alex Neil and many want him out.

Check out some of the fiery comments following full-time - it's not a pretty sight if you're in the 'Neil In' camp.
