Barnsley boss, Daniel Stendel's future at Oakwell has been thrown into some doubt after a latest report from the Yorkshire Evening Post.

It is claimed that the German is reluctant to sign a new deal at the club, until he is given assurances regarding being able to strengthen his squad over the summer.

But the report does state that Stendel is still focused on the job at hand at Barnsley heading into the summer.

Stendel has been hugely impressive in his first managerial spell in England, and guided Barnsley back into the Championship at the first time of asking.

This good work hasn't gone unnoticed though, as Middlesbrough have registered their interest in appointing Stendel as their new boss after Tony Pulis was dismissed from the managerial post at The Riverside.

But how should Barnsley fans be feeling after this latest update?

We discuss....

Chris Gallagher:

"They should be extremely worried!

"Stendel's stock is high right now and there will be other clubs interested.

"So he needs support from the board if the Tykes are to compete. He will want to see a vision for the club that he agrees with and it's now down to the key figures above him to prove they value his work."

George Brooks:

"This is definitely a concern for Barnsley.

"Stendel did a fantastic job in his first season in English football and he could have what it takes to help the club achieve success in the Championship next season.

"He could be a great appointment by Middlesbrough, but if he was to leave Barnsley now, it would leave them in a very difficult position ahead of pre-season."

Jacob Potter:

"This is worrying.

"I am amazed that the Barnsley board haven't given Stendel assurances that he will be financially backed in the summer as they prepare for life in the Championship.

"He's a manager that can go far in English football, and Barnsley need to act fast and back him, otherwise I can see him walking away before the season gets underway."
