Portsmouth climbed up to 13th in the League One table after an important 4-1 win over strugglers Southend United yesterday evening.

Goals from John Marquis, Marcus Harness and a brace from Ellis Harrison sealed the three points in style, as the Shrimpers were put to the sword in Hampshire.

Despite not starting off the game in a strong fashion, Marquis's third of the season just before the break helped ease the nerves as Pompey grew into the game, with the floodgates opening in the second half.

It is the first time Portsmouth have scored four in a league game since 13 April, which was a 4-1 win over Rochdale at Fratton Park last season.

The result eases the pressure slightly on Kenny Jackett, after two recent disappointing results against Bristol Rovers and Oxford respectively.
