Josh Windass made a Deadline Day switch from Rangers to Wigan as he searches for regular football.

The 24-year-old left sided midfielder arrives at the DW Stadium for an undisclosed fee having signed a three-year deal.

Wigan Athletic manager Paul Cook said on the club website: “Josh is an exciting player with an eye for a goal and he gives us further strength in attacking positions.”

So will Windass be a hit with the Latics? Is it a good acquisition for Wigan?

This is unreal business.

Reportedly for £2.5million, it is a steal for a player who was tearing it up for the Scottish giants last season.

The move to Wigan is a surprise as he could have perhaps moved to a better side, with all due respect to Wigan.

Windass has the potential to play higher up the league, and one day make it to the top-flight.

He is dynamic and has some cutting edge to his play. It’s a clever move by Paul Cook to bring him in.

Windass gets a hard time from Rangers fans but you cannot argue with his record of goals and assists.

In the Championship, this could prove to be a very good signing as he adds a creative spark to the midfield.

The 24-year-old is still young and has the scope to improve while also providing an immediate impact in midfield.

Wigan have some good options now and they are building a strong squad under Paul Cook.

Gary Hutchinson

I'm not convinced he is, he had a decent season in League Two, for sure. His time in Scotland has been promising, but aside from Rangers and maybe Aberdeen, who has he proved himself against?

I'm not saying this is a bad deal, but it is going to be interesting how he settles in the side. It could be inspired, just as Waghorn was.

George Dagless

He should do well.

Wigan lost some players towards the end of the window but getting Windass in should help negate the issue.

He's a hard-working forward with decent quality and so he should prove a pretty decent asset.
