Tranmere Rovers manager Micky Mellon have confirmed that January loan signing Morgan Feeney has returned to parent club, Everton, for treatment on a hamstring injury.

Tranmere have been very active in the transfer window and one of the players they brought in to strengthen their push for survival was Everton’s promising youngster, Morgan Feeney.

Feeney joined on deadline day on-loan for the remainder of the season after impressing in the Toffees’ youth setup, often captaining a talent-ridden under-23s side.

However, the 20-year-old was dealt a huge blow for the season after he suffered a hamstring injury during Saturday’s 2-0 defeat at the hands of Bolton Wanderers.

The club have now confirmed that Feeney has gone back to Goodison Park to undergo treatment on this injury, with no confirmation over whether he will return to Prenton Park before the season ends.

Feeney played 92 minutes when Tranmere fell to defeat against their fellow relegation strugglers at the University of Bolton Stadium, but had to be taken off in stoppage time with this injury and was replaced by Sid Nelson.

Tranmere will be buoyed by the return of Manny Monthe, whose one-match suspension has been concluded after receiving two yellow cards in the defeat to Sunderland last week.
