The FA ruled on Tuesday that Derby County winger Tom Lawrence would not be banned following an alleged dive against West Brom on the last day of the season.

It was thought that he could have been handed a two-match ban for successful deception, ruling him out of both legs of his side's play-off clash with Leeds United, but that was not the case.

Patrick Bamford was handed a ban for breaking the same rule last week after his dive led to Aston Villa winger Anwar El Ghazi being sent off.

But is this the right decision?

We discuss...

Jacob Potter

"This is the wrong decision.

"If there was contact, then it was minimal, and certainly wasn't as bad as he first made out.

"I'm stunned that he hasn't been punished over the matter and Lawrence will surely be embarrassed by his actions.

"What does this teach the younger players that will look to follow in his footsteps in the future?"

Toby Wilding

"This is probably fair.

"Even with television replays it was difficult to tell whether Lawrence had been tripped; slipped or dived. Given what is at stake for Derby, denying them one of their key players based on ifs and maybes would have been rather controversial, and arguably harsh."

Louie Chandler

"I think this is probably the right decision.

"The contact looks minimal but given that there was contact it would be extremely harsh to ban him for the two biggest matches of the season.

"The anger from Leeds fans is understandable but I will side with the FA on this one."
