It is probably fair to say that Bristol Rovers look more than comfortable in League One.

The west-country side came into this season rather sceptical about how they would cope with the demands of a higher standard of football.

With many of the Rovers players still with the club since their Conference promotion in 2015, they have undoubtedly shown their ability to adapt to the increase in quality of opposition.

Rovers boss, Darrell Clarke, has turned the club around remarkably from their relegation to the Conference in the 2013/14 season.

But, despite double-promotion, Clarke would be the first one to tell you that the club are looking to push even further forward rather than rest in the third tier of English football.

This season as seen the club bring in some quality that is needed to challenge at the business end of League One.

Premier League loan signings such as Charlie Colkett, Hiram Boateng and Jake Clarke-Salter have all added some quality to the side.

Despite their Premier League backgrounds, there are also some Rovers players turning heads in the league.

Sought after striker, Matty Taylor, has scored 6 goals in 9 league games for the Gas. Bearing in mind that it is his first season in League One, that is not a bad start.

Clearly, there is a lot of quality at Bristol Rovers with a balance of youth talent and experience.

As a result, it has been an extremely hard task to choose just 5 players for this side.

Football League World writer Reece Chambers names his ultimate Bristol Rovers 5-a-side team....

GK - Kelle Roos

roos

Brought in at the beginning of the season on loan from Derby County, Roos has proved to be a valuable member of the Rovers team.

On paper, Roos is a tall and intimidating goalkeeper but in truth he is more than that.

His ability to get down and stop low-firing shots is something rarely attributed to a goalkeeper of his height and he is therefore ideal for a 5-a-side keeper.

The Dutch keeper also holds the ability to get off his line at tremendous speed. He is therefore a solid addition to this side as the team's last line of defence.

DEF - Tom Lockyer

With choosing to play one at the back, I needed a defender who could provide stability.

Lockyer suits the bill more than most with his mature approach to the game at the age of just 21.

What stands him above the average centre-back is his ability to play out from the back with his feet. His eye for a pass and agility will prove invaluable in any game of 5-a-side football.

The young Welshman has been the rock at the back for Rovers over their last two seasons of success and I hope he will provide the same again here.

MID - Hiram Boateng

The second loan-signing in this side is the young Palace talent, Hiram Boateng.

Although he is yet to show his full potential at Rovers, the attributes he has already shown are worthy for a place in this side.

His strength on the ball and neat foot work would provide this side with  another dimension.

Despite some positional faults in the early part of the season, Boateng is more than capable of becoming a first-choice midfielder in such a competitive Rovers side.

MID - Billy Bodin

For the role of attacking midfielder, there was much deliberation between Charlie Colkett, a young Chelsea loanee, and Billy Bodin.

Bodin gets the nod from me partly because of what he has done for the club. Yes, Colkett would bring some Premier League quality to the side but Bodin offers something different.

The tricky winger has the ability to weave in and out of players to his heart's content. So much so that the majority of his goals have come from the beating of two or three defenders. What springs to mind first is the elusive first goal of a memorable game at home to Dagenham and Redbridge last season - a goal that would contribute to Rovers' promotion to League One.

With such an ability to beat a defender, Bodin cannot be left out of this team. He would be in his element with just 10 players on the pitch and that's why he fits into this side.

ST - Matty Taylor

Taylor

Who else? Taylor has been on fire over the last year or so and many Rovers fans expected to lose him at the end of the last campaign.

His 28 goals in all competitions was a huge hand in what was a highly successful season for the Gas.

Taylor is renowned for his goalscoring ability but his game has improved over the last year to something much better.

He is now far from the Taylor that just knocked in tap-ins when he came to the club in 2014.

As a result, Taylor was the first name on the team sheet in the hope that he will bang the goals in for this Bristol Rovers 5-a-side team.
