After what has been a terrible start to the season for Aston Villa, they sit 18th in the Sky Bet Championship.

Villa seem to have been suffering a relegation hangover but now seem to be adapting to life in the Championship.

Their poor start to the season led to Roberto Di Matteo being sacked after just 11 games.

Steve Bruce was the man selected to replace Di Matteo and he has already had an impact at Villa.

On Tuesday, Villa won their first away league game for over 400 days, a feat that has been haunting them for quite some time.

They beat Reading 2-1 thanks to an injury time penalty from Jordan Ayew.

Under the guidance of Bruce, an expert in gaining promotion, they could put a run of results together and start to climb the table.

Here, FLW's Chris Wilson will look at which Villa players would make the best 5-a-side team.....

Goalkeeper – Pierluigi Gollini

The Italian shot stopper joined Villa from Hellas Verona this year and has taken over the number one role.

Gollini came up through the Manchester United academy before moving to Hellas Verona in 2014.

He has been keeping Mark Bunn out of the team of late and will be hoping to retain the goalkeeper shirt under new management.

Gollini would be the perfect goalkeeper to have in a 5-a-side team, having played in Italy he has the ability to play with the ball at his feet, as well as keep the ball out of the net.

Defender - Tommy Elphick

The no-nonsense centre half was a summer signing from Bournemouth and has slotted seamlessly into the Villa defence.

Elphick has achieved promotion with Bournemouth as their captain so he will bring a welcome amount of leadership and experience to the Villa backline.

Elphick seems to have settled in well at Villa, having already produced some very good performances.

He would be the perfect defender in a 5-a-side team, composed on the ball, he can start off attacks but doesn’t take any prisoners at the back, a great protective barrier to have in front of the keeper

Midfielder - Albert Adomah

Adomah was a summer arrival from Premier League side, Middlesbrough.

He brings an abundance of Championship knowhow to a Villa team that is relatively inexperienced.

Adomah was part of Middlesbrough's team that finished runners up in last season’s Championship, so his promotion knowhow could come in handy for them towards the end of the season.

He is a versatile player and can either play at right back or right midfield.

His dribbling and skills would make him perfect for a five-a-side team.

Forward - Ross McCormack

McCormack arrived at Villa in the summer from Fulham. McCormack has a reputation as a prolific goal scorer in the Championship and is widely seen as someone who can score 20 goals per season, and fire you up towards the top of the table.

The Scottish striker has 13 caps for his country, but hasn’t featured for them for quite some time now.

McCormack has been around the Championship for quite some time now, so he has a good knowledge when it comes to the league and what it takes to win games.

He would be a good 5-a-side player, with him not having to do lots of defensive work he could focus most of his efforts on attacking which is what he’s best at.

Forward - Jonathan Kodjia

Another of Villa’s summer signings, Kodjia signed with a huge expectation for him to continue his fine form of last season.

Kodjia hit 19 goals last season, in what was a struggling Bristol City side.

Villa fans will be hoping he can kick start a partnership with McCormack, which could be a deadly combination.

Kodjia hasn’t had the start to the season many Villa fans would’ve hoped for, but he has 2 goals in his last 2 games, showing signs he may be adapting to life at Villa.

In a 5-a-side team, Kodjia playing up front would guarantee you plenty of goals.

Whilst he also isn’t shy of doing the work going back towards his own goal.
