Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has confirmed that Nottingham Forest defender Joe Worrall will remain on loan at Rangers until the summer, as Forest missed their chance to recall the on-loan central defender, it has been reported in The Scottish Sun.

Forest are now managed by former Celtic manager Martin O'Neill who was appointed manager on Tuesday to succeed Aitor Karanka, with his side sitting ninth in the Championship, four points adrift of Derby County in the final play-off place.

Worrall has played 17 times for Rangers since signing in August, with all but two of the 22-year-old's appearances being starts.

So is the decision for Worrall to remain at Rangers, good news for the player's development?

Gary Hutchinson

“Very interesting indeed.

“I had him down as returning and starting this weekend.

“Instead he’s staying at Ibrox and that’ll be good news for Rangers.

“I guess O’Neill sees keeping things the same in terms of loan players is the way to go.

“His call.”

Louie Chandler

"I'm not sure.

"It seems like O'Neill was very keen to bring him back and I feel like Forest could do with some more youthful exuberance in the back-line.

"He will no doubt improve under Gerrard, however."

Jay Taylor

“This is the perfect decision.

“Martin O’Neill can monitor him from afar for the remainder of the campaign and look to incorporate him in the side next season.

“Game time at Rangers at a club that size will only benefit him and for another six months at Ibrox will only improve him on and off the pitch further heading into next season.”
