Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder will be pleased with the news that striker Billy Sharp has signed a new two-year-deal at the club, as confirmed on the club website.

The 33-year-old, has 22 goals and two assists this season and is in his third spell with his hometown club having helped them to win the League One title in 2017.

Boss Chris Wilder told the club website: "Billy is a natural goalscorer for us, we are delighted we have negotiated so that he can extend his period with the club.

So is Sharp's new deal good news for the Blades?

We discuss.....

Louie Chandler

"Definitely.

"Sharp will definitely still be of use for the next two seasons whatever level he is playing at and it is smart of Wilder to offer a new deal.

"Sharp will most likely play out the next two seasons then retire as a legend."

Jacob Potter

"This is the best news all season.

"Sharp has been Sheffield United’s key man this season and without his goals, the Blades wouldn’t be in contention to win promotion.

"It’s the best news possible for Chris Wilder’s side."

Gary Hutchinson

“Great news.

“He’s an ambassador for the club and a goal scorer too.

“Can he cut it in the Premier League? Probably not.

“She’s still a good lad to have around though.”

Jay Taylor

“It goes without saying, doesn’t it?

“Billy Sharp is their top scorer and the reason the Blades are where they are.

“If it wasn’t good news then there would be something seriously wrong with the fan base.

“Hopefully this is the catalyst to getting them over the line.”
