Sunderland manager Chris Coleman has announced that midfielder Ovie Ejaria is set to miss the club's home clash with Brentford tomorrow.

Just how bad is this news for the Black Cats?

We discuss...

It's a setback for Sunderland.

Ejaria looked as though he'd play a big part in the club's fixtures around this time but he is now set to miss tomorrow.

The only hope will be that it's a minor setback and that he'll be back in contention before too long.

Sam Preston

It's not a massive blow as I'd have been thinking about dropping him anyway.

The impact of Aiden McGeady on the game last weekend at Bristol City meant that the Irishman was always going to be pushing for a start anyway and for me, Ejaria was the most at risk.

He was brought in to offer energy, linking midfield and attack but he hasn't been able to do that so far and I wrote earlier this week that he was on thin ice in terms of his first team place.

Therefore, missing him through injury would be no major loss to Coleman this weekend.

Will Sunderland boss Chris Coleman ever catch a break?

This is so, so irritating for them.

Ejaria has looked good under the former Wales boss, who will be gutted to be without the promising youngster for what is a must-win clash this weekend.

The Black Cats look better with the player in the side, and their chances of success will certainly be affected by his absence.
