Nottingham Forest manager Martin O'Neill is not hanging about with his summer transfer business as he looks to get his squad to a position, where they can sustain a top-six promotion challenge in the Championship next season.

One player O'Neill is moving quickly to sign, is Bristol Rovers defender Tom Lockyer, who is a free-agent this summer after seven years on the books at the Memorial Stadium, according to the Bristol Post.

So would Lockyer be a good signing for Forest?

We discuss.........

Toby Wilding

"They need a signing like this.

"Forest never really felt like they had steady back four towards the end of the season, and it arguably cost them dear during that four game losing run that ended their play-off hopes.

"Having an experienced defender such as Lockyer could help combat that next time around."

Gary Hutchinson

“This one has caught me by surprise.

“I don’t think it’s a signing I could have predicted, but it might be a big surprise success.

“Lockyer is a good, honest professional fighting for a chance to get up the divisions.

“This is refreshing.”

Jacob Potter

"I’m really not sure about this one.

"There’s no doubting that Lockyer is more than good enough to be playing regular first-team football in League One, which he has done this season.

"But I have my doubts as to whether he would be good enough to be playing regularly in the Championship.

"Surely there are better options out there for Forest?"
