Aston Villa are in the chase to sign Strasbourg striker Stephane Bahoken in the summer transfer window, according to reports via the Sun.

The 25-year-old has scored eight goals in 27 games this season for the Ligue 1 club, and his displays have seemingly caught the attention of Steve Bruce.

Would he be a good signing for the Villans? Is he what they need?

We discuss....

Ben Barkworth

Bahoken has good numbers this season with Strasbourg because he has six goals in 1261 minutes as well as working hard defensively as part of a unit.

However, the main issue is whether he can successfully make the jump from Ligue 1 to the Premier League/Championship because plenty of players have struggled.

Doesn't seem a good move for Villa, they need to assess him for another season at least.

George Dagless

Is he better than what they have?

He's got plenty of pace to stretch defences and works the channels well but I'm not sure whether he trumps Villa's options right now.

Certainly, if they are looking for a new striker I think they need to go after a player that is a guaranteed upgrade on what they've got.

Gary Hutchinson

This is really quite surprising news, I imagined if Villa were going to raid a European club for a player he'd have a great goal scoring record, but Bahoken's is average.

I think there's better out there him, but then again I'm not a football scout, nor have I seen him in action.
