Bolton Wanderers were given their first bit of good news in what feels like an eternity on Wednesday afternoon when they were granted an extension to pay their unpaid debts.

The club managed to persuade the court that there was an interested buyer who would be willing to pay all the necessary debts and that a deal was not far away.

But another element was thrown into the mix today as well when Alan Nixon of the Sun revealed that yet another candidate had entered the fray.

For the fans, they will just want to see Ken Anderson leave and have some stability restored.

So what should the fans make of this update?

We discuss...

George Brooks

“This is potentially encouraging news for Bolton, after what has been a dreadful season for the Championship club both on and off the field.

“The club now have less than two weeks to get a settle their debts, or they could face going into administration.

“The club's financial problems have got progressively worse over recent weeks and if they don't get a takeover sorted as soon as possible the consequences could be disastrous.

“Talk of a potential new buyer is a good sign but Bolton fans probably won't get their hopes up too much, as they have heard it all before over the past few weeks.”

Toby Wilding

“This can be seen as both a good and a bad thing for Bolton.

“Now that they are involved in talks with a bidder as confirmed in the high court hearing on Wednesday, they will not want any distractions, such as this, that could scupper negotiations.

"Bolton however have seen that happen before regardless, so it may be reassuring for the club and its fans to know there is a back up option in place. But with the clock ticking, they will want this done one way or another sooner rather than later."

Louie Chandler

“I am not sure what to make of this.

“My initial thought is that overcomplicating the situation now seems like the last thing that should happen and will only give Anderson more reason to delay.

“But if it is ultimately a better deal then it can only be a good thing. We will have to see.”
