According to the Daily Mirror, Leeds are set to open contract talks with in-form striker Kemar Roofe in the New Year, with his current deal expiring in the summer of 2020.

The 25-year-old has 10 league goals in the Championship so far and has played a pivotal role in Leeds' promotion push this season.

Marcelo Bielsa's side are currently second in the table and are just a point behind Norwich City heading into their game against Bolton Wanderers this weekend.

This latest development on his contract situation can only be good news for Leeds supporters, many of whom will be confident that Roofe is the man to fire them back into the top-flight.

How much of a boost is this news?

We discuss....

Alfie Burns

It was only a matter of time before Leeds had to move.

Roofe has been superb this season and deserves to become one of the club's highest earners.

A sensible decision that should've never been in doubt.

Louie Chandler

It has to be very good news.

The last thing Leeds want right now is uncertainty hanging over them in January as it could seriously damage their promotion hopes.

Getting Roofe tied down now should be an absolute priority.

Chris Gallagher

This is great news for Leeds.

I'm surprised they've let his contract approach the final 18 months and this needs sorting as soon as possible.

Clearly, that's what Leeds want and with the way Roofe is playing, he will surely want to stay.

It makes sense for all parties and it will be a big relief to the club.
