Derby County keeper Kelle Roos has ended speculation surrounding his future by signing a new deal to remain at Pride Park.

The 27-year-old's previous deal was up in the summer and it had been thought Roos could be on the move, however the club confirmed on their website that a three-year contract has been signed.

Despite making an error in the play-off final against Aston Villa, the Dutchman enjoyed a superb end to the season and seems set to be the Rams number one next season.

So, how pleased should Derby be with this news?

Here our writers take a look...

Toby Wilding

"I think this is great news for Derby.

"In spite of his high profile error at Wembley, Roos has generally been a solid figure for Derby throughout the season.

"Had he left they would surely have had to go into the transfer market for another ‘keeper, and they will not have been keen to do that given the focus on their finances."

Ben Lang

"I think this is a smart move by Derby.

"Roos may have made a critical error in the play-off final, but he was impressive for Derby throughout the second half of the season and deserves this reward.

"This show of faith will definitely boost his confidence. He is still fairly young for a goalkeeper so I think he could improve further while he continues to learn, especially with Shay Given on the coaching staff."

Chris Gallagher

"This is a big boost for Derby.

"Even though he may be remembered for his mistake in the play-off final, the keeper was superb for the final few months of the season.

"He is good enough for the Championship and this deal means the Rams don't need to sign a new stopper which is a big relief for Frank Lampard."
