Bolton Wanderers players have still not been paid their wages for February as the club's financial struggles continue.

Owner Ken Anderson is desperate to sell the club but a takeover still hasn't gone through and he had hoped whoever bought the club would pay the wage bill.

However, he gave manager Phil Parkinson and the players assurances that they would be paid today either way.

But, that's not happened, with journalist Alan Nixon revealing that the squad were told earlier today that the funds would not be sent across.

Obviously, that is not what they wanted to hear and they released a statement criticising the owner for going back on his word.

Here our writers share their thoughts on the latest update and the overall situation impacting the Trotters...

George Harbey

"It’s a total and utter shambles.

"These aren’t just footballers, they are people who still have to pay mortgages and bills.

"This really isn’t helping in their fight against the drop."

Chris Gallagher

"This is not on at all.

"You have to feel sorry for the players who will be livid at how this keeps happening.

"It needs sorting as soon as possible and the owner should be embarrassed."

Alfie Burns

"It's not good and this is going too far now.

"The Bolton players deserve better and Anderson's treatment of them hasn't been good enough.

"This is going to get messy."
