West Brom caretaker James Shan is expected to be in charge for the Baggies home game against Preston this weekend.

The former coach under Darren Moore was handed the reigns on a temporary basis after the ex-player was sacked last month and he recorded three successive victories after taking over.

However, back-to-back defeats have impacted the mood and the fans really turned on the owner and board in the loss at Bristol City last night.

The supporters are understandably annoyed that a replacement wasn't appointed immediately after Moore was dismissed and there have been calls for an experienced manager to come in.

Yet, Express & Star journalist Matt Wilson has revealed that Shan is expected to be in the dugout for the weekend game against Preston.

North End boss Alex Neil is still thought to be the number one target for Albion although it remains to be seen if he will join before the end of the season.

Either way, it's fair to say that the fans were not happy that they will go a sixth game without a permanent boss...
